While being a college student on spring break not partying, and, in
fact, sitting at home procrastinating, I thought I might as well start a
blog. So I guess I'm going to rant about spring break and why I'm not
too fond of it.
How do people even go to places like
Cancun for spring break? You're in college and most of you are in debt. I
doubt you parents are paying for 100% of your schooling, even so - my
parents would go crazy if I said I was going to Cancun for spring break.
The price of college is anything but cheap, and so is a week long trip
to Mexico. It just seems to be impractical to go to anywhere exotic
while you're in college, just wait until after you graduate and have a
job.
Now this second part may only be for me, but as an
engineer I have little to no time to party. I was given school work to
do over my break, and will be starting that sometime before I go back.
But seriously, stereotypically, the people that go to places like Mexico
are party-goers. Most of the party-goers I know are not in engineering,
those that are probably won't continue to be in engineering. My friend
who is going to college to be a gym teacher is going down to Miami over
his break. Not to be rude, but physical education is not that mentally
challenging; there is the saying "those who can't teach, teach gym" for a
reason.
I guess this whole spring break thing is not
for me. I would rather sit around and write / bitch about it or read a
book or get destroyed in a game of StarCraft II.
